Welcome Image
Those who build cemeteries must think not in years, but centuries. The founders of Woodlawn did that 50 years ago. Their vision of quiet, tree-shaded, winding roads between Virginia Beach Boulevard and Newtown Road- convenient to all Tidewater- has stood the test of time. Although the builders did not live to see the mature beauty of their creation, a second generation, represented by Ken Bell and Jane Morriss Garland, have carried out the founders' vision to the logical next step by adding a funeral home and on site crematory to serve all your family's needs in one convenient location. Once you leave busy Virginia Beach Boulevard or Newtown Road to enter the Gardens by either entrance, you enter another, more tranquil world. When you see the modern Woodlawn Funeral Home & Crematory in the setting of wooded acres and lovely gardens, you will understand why it makes such perfect sense to choose Woodlawn to honor those you love. When the time comes to choose your family's memorial for posterity, the priceless element in all services is the integrity of the provider. Woodlawn's long tradition of independent, family operation is your guarantee of service and satisfaction. Those who see the spacious Funeral Home, adjacent to the Memorial Gardens will understand that Woodlawn sets a standard of excellence for Tidewater. Before you make arrangements elsewhere, please consider Woodlawn.

Bereavement Support Group

You do not have to go through the grieving process alone. We will walk with you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Our support group provides understanding, education, and fosters the physical and emotional health of bereaved adults. The group is free of charge and meets at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Norfolk. We meet on Wednesdays from 2:00 - 3:30 PM. Group is facilitated by Megan Zieger, Sentara MSW and Roger Gauthier, Sentara Chaplain. The group is limited to 15 participants. Please contact Megan Zieger for more information and to register 757-388-2631. This group is sponsored by Sentara Norfolk and Virginia Beach General Hospitals and Woodlawn Funeral Home.
